Have you ever dreamt of being discovered? The luxuriously lavish lifestyle of travel, adoration, and artistic freedom is alluring. However, no one understands the realities of the music industry better than Joey Papoutsis.
No one rejects, dislikes, or avoids pleasure itself, because it is pleasure, but because those who do not know how to pursue pleasure rationally encounter consequences that are extremely painful. Nor again is there anyone who loves or pursues or desires to obtain pain of itself, because it is pain, but because occasionally circumstances occur in which toil and pain can procure him some great pleasure.
Best known for discovering Louis the Child, who enjoys over 4.2 million monthly listeners on Spotify, Joey is a busy man.
As a Chicago native, the entrepreneurial spirit of the city cascades through his blood. Joey’s start came in college. Having tried many other aspects of the music industry, he quickly discovered that his heart (and his talented eye for discovery) belonged in finding new talent. This isn’t to say that his time in recording studios, working on the legal aspects of the business, and various other positions don’t come in handy to this day.
As an artist manager, Joey’s job is to negotiate, guide, and help ensure the success of the clients he manages. He often finds himself negotiating legal contracts, settling disputes, and always keeping an eye forward so that he can lead his clients to the most successful career he knows they can enjoy.
Joey says the music industry is booming with new undiscovered talent. In his position at his LA management firm, Keel, Joey is looking to unlock the potential of new artists whose fresh perspective and a keen ear for musical euphoria will help enrich the industry and give his listeners something fresh.
